Fra Mauro

Fra Mauro (c. 1400–1464) was a Venetian cartographer and monk, best known for creating the Fra Mauro Map (c. 1459), one of the most advanced and detailed medieval world maps. Fra Mauro's map is regarded as the pinnacle of medieval cartography, blending classical, Islamic, and Renaissance knowledge. His work bridged the medieval and modern mapping traditions, helping set the stage for the Age of Exploration.
