
Gerard de Jode
Gerard de Jode (1509–1591) was a Flemish cartographer, engraver, and publisher, best known for his atlas "Speculum Orbis Terrarum" (1578), a competitor to Ortelius’ famous Theatrum Orbis Terrarum. His work played a significant role in 16th-century cartography. Gerard de Jode’s "Speculum Orbis Terrarum" remains one of the most important 16th-century atlases, representing the evolving geographical knowledge of the Renaissance era.
