In our maps, thousands of stars are plotted, so you can see what is visible at a specific location on a particular night. We plot the Milkyway outline, as well as the most known constellations, as well as the stars with the highest level of scientific accuracy. Our celestial data are collected using Yale’s Bright Star Catalog and other astronomical databases, which contain the coordinates and brightness of each known star in the galactic coordinate system. For constellation lines, we use Donald Menzel’s A Field Guide to the Stars and Planets. Additionally, we use the Messier Catalog and the New General Catalog to identify Deep Sky Objects (like nebulas and galaxies).
